Alnwick town res v Red House Farm

Red house farm are top of the league so this was a good chance for alnwick to gauge how far they have come this season and it was alnwick who created the first real chance when jake lowes crossed from the left to find chris moffet but his shot from fifteen yards out went just wide, but it didn’t take long for red house to get into the game when rob Nolan who has been prolific this season went on a good run into the box but pulled his shot wide.alnwick went ahead when alan mcfall swung in a deep cross from the left and james davison lost his man to power a header past the away keeper.red house came back at alnwick and henry woodcock had to be at full stretch when he got down to a zack brogden header which Jordon trotter cleared with the ball periously close to the line.red house did equalise when a cross from the left was headed home by jack bell.maybe red house expected the home team to fold after this but that was far from the case with alnwick having plenty of the ball,so much that red house changed their formation to try and counter act the amount of possession that alnwick were having and this pressure nearly paid off when james davison who was having a great game put the red house defense under pressure and played a back pass to the away keeper who handled it so alnwick had a good chance to go ahead with an indirect free kick from 8 yards out so with virtually the whole team lined on the goal line the ball was rolled to chris moffat but his shot was blocked by one of the sea of yellow shirts storming towards him, that said it did look to be suspiciously like hand ball but unfortunetly for alnwick the ref didn’t see it.but red house are top for a reason and it wasn’t long before they created chances but woodcock in the alnwick goal pulled off a great save when Nolan was clean through standing up well to him.dave hubbard went close for alnwick when his glancing header from jake lowes cross went just wide, then it was red house who went close with woodcock who seemed to be on a mission to stop Nolan adding to his impressive tally this season with another great save from the centre forward, the game really was swinging from end to end now with chances for both teams withchris moffat, james davison and young regan turnball who was making his debut going close and Nolan and Derek sheeran for red house,so with only minutes remaining it looked like this game was heading for a draw which would have been a fair result when brogden burst through from midfield into the box and was adjudged to have been brought down but it looked like the ball was running away from him and he realised that and made the most of the challenge and chris mann stepped up to put the ball into the bottom corner pastwoodcocks out stretched hand.it was a bitter pill for alnwick to swallow as they had matched the top team in every department and deserved something out of the game.the result might not have gone their way but they can hold their heads high with this perfofmance which they will have to sustain in what is turning out to be a tight division.away to willington quay saints meet at st james 12.45 team from woodcock,saunders,trotter,hubbard,dundas,a.mcfall.lowes,moffat,kidd,Davidson,hutchins,davison,n.mcfall,Stephenson,hogg,turnball,colley,tate
