Bedlington Terriers defeated Whitley Bay 4-0 on Monday in the STL Northern League Division One. All the goals were scored in the second half through Steven Stewart, Anthony Shandran, John Campbell and Steven Baptist.

On Tuesday, Ashington came from being two goals down to South Shields to draw 2-2. The visitors went two gaols ahead through Stephen Ramsey and Matthew Soulsby. Johnny Godsmark reduced the deficit and James Taylor scored in the last minute.

Shildon won 4-1 at Penrith. Warren Byrne gave them the lead from the penalty spot, with Ian Watson adding the second. Grant Davidson pulled a goal back for the home side, but Steve Johnson ran through and fired over the keeper to make it 3-1. Craig Price scored the fourth goal.

In the second division, Darlington RA came back from being four goals down at Hebburn Town to draw 4-4. Hebburn had gone ahead with a hat-trick by Liam McBryde and an own goal. RA cam back with goals by Stephen Cheeseman, Simon Evision, James Muir and an own goal.

Gillford Park moved up to third spot after a 3-1 win over Alnwick Town. Craig Wilson (penalty), James Earl and Tyran Taylor were the home side scorers, with Tom Vickers replying for Alnwick Town.

Thornaby went out of the North Riding Senior Cup, losing 5-4 on penalties to Grangetown Boys Club. Kallum Hannah and Paul Thorns scored for Thornaby, with Sean Portas and Connon Bedlingfield replying for Grangetown.

On Wednesday, Newcastle Benfield extended their unbeaten run to four games after a 5-2 win over Billingham Town. The home side were four goals up by 36 minutes through Lewis Teasdale, Mark Turnbull, Brian Dodsworth and Carl Patterson. Chris Dunwell pulled a goal back for Billingham just before half time. In the second half, Michael Chilton gave Benfield a four goal lead again, before Jamie Owens pulled a goal back.

Guisborough Town pulled off a shock 2-1 win over Spennymoor Town. The home side took an early lead through Shane Henry. Danny Moore equalised in the second half before Henry scored his second goal of the night with fifteen minutes remaining.

West Auckland Town went back top of the first division following a 2-2 draw at Norton & Stockton Ancients. Mattie Moffat missed a penalty after Leon Scott had been sent off for handling on the line. West then went ahead through Adam Nichols, but Norton equalised through an own goal by Daryl Hall. Matthew Coad gave West the lead at half time. James Mcgowan levelled the scores with nine minutes remaining.

Newton Aycliffe striker Elliott Gardner scored a hat trick when they beat Jarrow Roofing 5-3 at Moore Lane. Dale Jardine and Joshua Knox were the other scorers. Roofing scorers were new signing Tony Thirkell and two penalties by Krishopher Hughes.

In the second division Crook Town and Northallerton Town drew 1-1. Andy Appleby scored for Crook, with Gavin Parkin scoring for Northallerton.

Craig Mickle scored a hat-trick for Esh Winning in their 6-1 win at Washington. Ian Ward (2) and Craig Coates were the other scorers. John Wears scored Washington’s consolation goal. The result sees Esh Winning move up to second spot in the table.

West Allotment Celtic went out of the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup after losing 4-3 on penalties to Birtley Town. The score after extra time was 1-1 with goals by Chris Rue for Allotment and Craig Marron for Birtley.
