Alnwick Town 6-1 Tow Law Town
Adam Shanks ended his recent goal drought with 4 goals against Tow Law Town on Saturday.
Alnwick took an early lead through Adam Shanks, who lobbed the keeper from outside of the penalty box.
The home side had further chances to extend their lead, but a mixture of chances going just wide and the Tow Law Town goalkeeper kept Alnwick at bay,
It looked like the game had turned in the 35th minute. Goalkeeper Sean Straker picked up a backpass, and from the resulting free kick, Scott Duggan rifled home to bring the scores level.
With just a couple of minutes until the break, Alnwick regained the lead. Kieran Hogg's freekick was headed goalwards by Tony Brown. Despite the best efforts of the goalkeeper, the linesman judged the ball to have crossed the line and gave the goal.
To make things worse for Tow Law Town, they were then reduced to 10 men right before half time. The Tow Law number swung one elbow too many, and after his last one connected with Darren Riddell, the referee Mark Ryan showed a straight red card.
The 2nd 45 minutes proved to be all one way traffic. A two goal cushion was quick to arrive. Adam Shanks with his second of the game, heading home from a short corner.
The hat-trick qucikly followed and Alnwick saw themselves 4-1 up within 15 minutes of the restart.
Chances came and went, with McClelland, Shanks, Douglas, Colley and Brown all having further efforts to extend the lead.
The fifth finally came courtesy of Keith Douglas, who beat the offside trap and slotted past the on rushing keeper.
Adam Shanks then grabbed his fourth of the game and Alnwick's 6th following a good save by the visiting keeper.
A perfect reponse for Alnwick following last weekend's 8-0 defeat at Northallerton Town.
