I'm Over The Moon - New Manager Speaks
New Alnwick Town boss Jon Egen is looking forward to the season ahead, and provided the club website with some of his thoughts of taking the job.
"I am over the moon to have been given the opportunity to take over from where Derek has left off. The last few months of the season showed the potential that the lads at the club have. I believe that building on the nucleus that is already here with key experienced players such as Keith, Tom, Tony, Hoggy, Darren and Danny, plus the younger lads such as Kieran and Ross, we have a great chance of once again progressing."
"My ultimate goal over the next 24 months would be for this club to qualify for the F.A Cup. This will require hard work on and off the pitch, but I know that the playing staff are well up for this challenge. Having spoken to some of the players, it's something that a lot of them want to play in, and it's a big money spinner for the club too. But all competitions will be treat with full commitment as there's nothing better for the fans than the excitement of a cup run, and it keeps the players on focus too."
"Hopefully the fans will come and back us again the coming season, and crowds like the game against Chester-le-Street show how much the club is thought about in the town."
"Performances such as Team Northumbria away, Washington away, Norton & Stockton Ancients at home, even the first 30 minutes away to Seaham Red Star show that there is no reason why we can't compete with the top sides in this division."
"Pre-season will hopefully bring in some new faces, building even more camaraderie within the whole playing squad, and that includes Alan McFall's new look reserve side, and putting across my own playing style through training sessions and friendlies."
"The chairman has promised that everyone is behind me and I hope that I can repay their faith. August the 8th can't come soon enough!"
