Laidlaw ready for debut in Chester-Le-Street Test
Alnwick travel to high flying Chester-Le-Street Town, as new manager Adam Laidlaw will face a tough test on his debut in his new role writes new Media Officer, Mark Craggs.
Although on the form guide over the last six games Chester-Le-Street have only picked up 9 points, picking up 33 in the other 14. The Cestrians come into the game off the back of a 4-0 victory away to Heaton Stannington last week with league’s top scorer Scott Heslop scoring two to take his season’s league tally to 18.
Alnwick didn’t have the best game last time out, losing 4-2 to Team Northumbria at home without a manager. Although it has been a big week away from the pitch at St. James’ Park with the club receiving a £32,000 grant to get new floodlights and obviously my Newcastle Women’s colleague Adam Laidlaw being announced as new manager and NUFC Foundation coach Ross Flintoft being confirmed as his assistant.
We currently sit 17th with 20 points and will be hoping for a big performance to give the new gaffer a great start.
This game is the first of a double header against Chester-Le-Street at Moor Park as we also face them in the Ernest Armstrong Cup on Tuesday night. Kick-off is 3pm tomorrow, come along and support the new gaffer and his side.
