Tuesday Night Football Under The Lights

December 28, 2015

After Christmas off for the lads, we get back underway as Heaton Stannington make the trip north to St. James’ Park writes Media Officer Mark Craggs.

Alnwick will be looking to bounce back after a heavy, but undeserved, 4-1 defeat at league leaders South Shields. A strong performance in the first game manager Adam Laidlaw was in the dugout with Ross Flintoft give Alnwick great hope under the new management team.

Tomorrow’s opponents Heaton Stannington also had a game free Boxing Day meaning both teams will be refreshed from the round of games on the 19th of December. Heaton managed to pick up a draw in that last round of fixtures, taking home a 1-1 draw from Easington Colliery. The 12th place side have been far from consistent this season, picking up big wins against teams like Billingham Town, Darlington RA and Stokesley as well some big defeats to match seeing Billingham Synthonia and Chester-Le-Street. A sign of their up and down form can be found in their two games against Whickham. They picked up a 3-2 win at home before a 1-0 defeat away.

Alnwick will be hoping the new signings can have the desired effect in a game against a team at a similar level. Thomas Butler look good in the midfield with Jonathyn Quinn creating chances and Lewis Robson looking very solid at the back in the first half. After a strong defensive display in the first half at South Shields the lads will be hoping they can keep a struggling Heaton attack quiet as they have only netted two league goals since the end of October.

Come along and support the lads in a big game. Don’t forget to take a selfie at the game and post it to Twitter using the hashtag #holidayselfie to be in with a chance of winning a shirt from our affiliate team Frontier FC of Buffalo, USA.
