Alnwick look to repeat away win
After Wednesday’s win away to Crook, Alnwick travel back to County Durham to face mid-table Tow Law Town writes Media Officer Mark Craggs
Alnwick are going into the game on Saturday after a massive confidence boosting win at fellow strugglers Crook Town, coming out with a 2-1 victory and all three points for the first time in Laidlaw and Flintoft’s reign.
The Wick now travel to Tow Law, 10 minutes north of Crook, as they look to build a good run of form. However, the game against the side nicknamed the Lawyers won’t be easy as they currently sit in 12th position, drawing 1-1 away at Heaton Stannington last Saturday. However the County Durham side are 16th on the form form guide, picking up 7 points in the last 6 games. Tow Law haven’t played at home since the 24th October, drawing 1-1 with Ryton and Crawcrook Albion. Saturday’s opposition were subject of the 9-1 defeat handed out by South Shields in front of the biggest Northern League Div. 2 crowd ever back in November. Kai Hewitson is the Lawyer's top scorer this term netting 13 league goals and finding himself as joint 4th top scorer in the league. The strong centre forward who resigned for the club from Birtley Town has played 14 games in all competitions this season and hasn’t played since November 28th (according to the Tow Law website).
Kieran Hogg, Ross Straughan and Thomas Butler al drop out of the side due to unavailability and Wednesday’s winning goal scorer Josh Hay also drops out. However, new signing Andrew Inness comes into the squad.
Come along and help the lads to a victory to make this week a special one for club. Kick-off is 3pm at The Ironworks Road Stadium, Tow Law.
