Rallying call. We're in this together!
Well as I write this, preparation is underway for a huge game on Saturday against Northallerton Town at home, the reverse fixture seeing us lose 11-1. Though I wasn’t at the club then I know from speaking to players that it’s a day they would like to put right.
As you can all see we are on a bad run of results. The players and staff are working very hard to turn around what have in my opinion been some very good performances into points.
Our most recent game against Billingham Synthonia was an action packed game. I don’t think anyone watching could tell which team was battling for promotion and that shows how we are closing the gap to the top 6 teams in the league, and that is where we want to be next season.
We have signed some new players with one eye on next season and the capture of Samuel Pérez is a huge coup for the club. Hopefully Samuel will enjoy what we are doing and stay on next season.
On the discipline front we have had 3 red cards in last 3 games, something that isn’t helpful especially when we are playing top 8 teams in the league. That said the character of the lads in those games down to 10 men has been fantastic.
In these last few games there have been some excellent individual performances, but a special mention to the captain Ross Gair who has showed fantastic leadership on and off the park.
Training has been intense and last session saw 20 players. That shows the commitment is there from all at the club and a fantastic sign for Brian, Stu and myself that we have a group of lads who want to play for this club.
So we go into the last 6 games wanting to pick up vital points and your support as always is important and appreciated.
I hope to see you all there on Saturday against Northallerton. Beers on me after the game if we win !!!!
Keep the faith
