Morpeth Town Friendly - Reaction

Alnwick Town manager Richie Mitchell has had his say following the friendly defeat to Morpeth Town, on a busy night at St James' Park on Wednesday night.

Morpeth Town came away 3-1 winners, and Richie said, "I thought we were outstanding tonight against (in my view) on of the best non-league clubs at that step in the country."

"We had a game plan to be compact and hard to break down, but remain a threat and I think the lads carried out that plan brilliantly against a team packed with quality."

"We have been back early into pre-seasonand that has helped us. Along with the new signings we have brought in I am confidentmoving forward."

"I'm particularly happy for the young lads in our squad who have seen what it's like against the best team in the Northern League Division 1."

"I told the lads after the game, that's the standard we have set, now lets kick on and get that consistency."

After a goalless first half, Morpeth took the lead through a Richard Pell header. Connor Powell equalised shortly afterwards for Alnwick following good build-up play. Goals from Chilton and Woodhead secured the victory for the visitors.

Alnwick are in action next Wednesday at home to Ashington at St James' Park, kick off is at 7:30pm. There will once again be a donation bucket going around the ground. Thank you to all those who donated on Wednesday. We raised £140. Thank You.
