Alnwick found success on their travels in their last match. Town left it late to earn three points in a 3-2 victory against a Wallington side unbeaten in 2019. Jake Morrison scored two goals in the last 10 minutes of the game, on his first appearance of the season, following up Jonathyn Quinn’s opener.

This result ended a 4 game winless run, scoring just a single goal.

North Shields have been on a decent run of late, despite defeat in their last match. A 1-0 defeat against New Fordley ended their 7-match unbeaten run. During this run, North Shields beat New Fordley 4-1 in their first meeting of the season, beat Seaton Delaval 6-2, and scored 20 goals.

Alnwick Team News
Jake Morrison, Alnwick’s double goal hero in their last match, may once again be unavailable for this fixture after making his only appearance of the season last week. Forward, Scott Maddison has been ever present in the starting line-up since his return to the club.

Evan McEwan made his starting debut in the last match but returned to the development squad for their match on Wednesday night.

Last meeting – Town won emphatically, 4-1, in the last match up between these two sides on the opening day of the season. Brad McClelland scored a hat-trick and the scoring was completed by Scott Maddison’s single strike.

Ones to watch
Evan McEwan, Alnwick Town – Promoted from the development squad, McEwan played a man of the match performance on his debut in the first team. Playing a more defensive role in the midfield, McEwan breaks up any potential danger while also bringing a calmness on the ball and an awareness to start attacks from a deeper position.

Marcelino Junior, North Shields Athletic – A goal in his last match continued Junior’s strong current form in front of goal. His latest strike made it 6 goals in five matches in the league.
