Alnwick held league leaders, Newcastle University, till the last ten minutes in their most recent match when two late goals sealed a 4-2 defeat.
Samuel Perez netted his first two goals since returning back to the club, on his away debut as he looked to benefit from a change in system.
Kieran Hogg appeared to enjoy a rare start in the middle of midfield in that match, playing a part in the first of Perez’s two strikes while another new addition had his say in the second.
Academy graduate and in-form attacking midfielder, Leon Midgely’s absence was quickly forgotten. Winger, Cameron Cunningham assisted the second goal in a rare start for the club and nearly gave his side a share of an unexpected point.
Midgely, however, has two goals and two assists in his last four matches but it is unclear whether he will feature on Saturday.
FC United of Newcastle have much work to do if they are to stay in this division next season.
They lost 8-1 against Gateshead Reserves, in their last match, but it hasn’t been exactly relegation form for the visitors.
United of Newcastle have recorded two victories in their last five matches, over North Shields Athletic and Seaton Delaval, scoring three goals in each match.

Ones to watch
Alnwick Town – Samuel Perez: Scored two in his away debut last time out in a front two. Both goals came by way of getting in behind the defence so look out for the forward stretching the opposition.
FC United of Newcastle – Ryan McEvoy: With the most outfield appearances, McEvoy is no doubt a key player for FC United of Newcastle and will play a huge part of his side’s battle for safety.
